Spinningfields is a relatively unknown area for me. However with so many fantastic eateries based in the regenerated quarter of Manchester City, it was time I broke the boundaries for a new Manchester Mummy restaurant review! Off we toddled to Scene Indian Restaurant for a yummy feast!

What better time to venture down there than half term with Mini Me and sample the delights that Scene Indian Restaurant in Spinningfields had to offer!
Scene Restaurant Manchester
Scene, the Indian street kitchen is situated on Leftbank, Manchester. With stunning views of the Manchester canal, amid corporate surroundings and amazing architecture.

It was the inside of the restaurant that amazed me the most though. It was funky, modern but with a really cool Indian vibe and the background music made it even more atmospheric.
Seated in a booth, we had lots of space and were able to take in the vast restaurant space during the lunch time setting.
Scene Indian Restaurant Menu

What we ate:

Scene Meat Combo £7.95
Assortment of meat starters. Including lamb chop, chicken tikka pieces, samosa, chicken wing, chicken 65. This was a fantastic dish to share, with lots of tender meat with the chicken 65 being the ultimate winner. Next time I will definitely be ordering this as a main starter. Tender and succulent chicken, with an almost sweet taste, I just wish there had been more… as I had to share!

Crispy Chilli Chicken £7.95
Served with vegetable fried rice. I did not know if Mini Me would enjoy this dish due to how fiery it could be. However despite being surrounded by chilli’s the flavour was discreet and it made for a mouthwatering, aromatic sticky starter. Coupled with the fragrant vegetable fried rice that accompanies the dish, this was a hearty meal that was full of flavour and full to the brim with succulent chicken pieces.

Onion Bhajis £3.95
Crisp onions moulded into a sphere mesh and deep fried in a gram flour coating until golden brown. Surely these are a staple when eating any Indian meal, but for me some of the best I have ever tasted. The spices infused perfectly and each bite was filled to the brim with different flavours – the crispiness and how the bhajis crumbled, coupled with the hot sauce was sublime. A real treat of a dish!

Lemon and Raspberry £4.95
A tart lemon curd with raspberries on a buttery cake and crisp crunchy crust, swimming in custard. Not one for desserts, I am easily persuaded by anything lemon related and who doesn’t love custard? This was so beautifully presented! It was almost hard to actually dive in and eat the dessert however it was a very pleasant cleanse the palate after a spice infused meal. The crumble was delicious and the lemon and raspberry complimenting each other perfectly. A total nostalgic dessert!

Chocolate Fondant £4.95 – Between mouthfuls, I garnered that Mini Me was a huge fan of this dessert. I’m afraid all that was shared was whipped cream, but I can state that this was super yummy! The chocolate chip ice cream was a great addition and was clearly a high quality ice cream – so many chunky chips! Mini Me gave her thumbs up once the dish was clear… but the smile says it all before she even started!

The lunchtime menu has a moderate selection of meals compared to that offered in the extensive evening menu. I was gutted that we didn’t get to try a Thali. A platter consisting of a salad, poppadom, bhaji, vegetarian side dish, pilau rice and a choice of lamb, chicken or veg curry. Priced from £7.50- £8.95 dependent on curry choice. Add £1 extra for a drink and it makes for a very reasonably priced lunch that will see you through the rest of the day.
It’s a wonderful restaurant for families. Modern, airy and spacious with the ability to accommodate large groups and facilities for children. I am quite looking forward to the new children’s menu that will be launched soon.

A Warm Welcome At Scene Restaurant For Families
Everyone was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Mini Me was in her element when the head chef came over to ask after her favourite dishes.
When stating her love for poppadoms and realising we did not have any, sent some over straight away with her much loved Mango Chutney. As you can see, she was in her element with the lovely gesture.
Parking in Spinningfields Manchester
I really was surprised how easy it was to park very close to Scene. Parking isn’t cheap, so bear that in mind! It would be easier to travel there using other methods, meaning you can also enjoy one of the fabulous beverages on offer! We loved the restaurant – the food was fantastic, a high quality, fresh and full of flavour.
If you work in Spinningfields, then the lunch menu is outstanding quality and very reasonably priced for what you receive. So… will you be seen in Scene anytime soon?

The food looks gorgeous – not oily at all. I love a good Thali and that’s a great price with all of the accompaniments. I bet my 8 year old would adore that meat dish starter!
