Christmas at Dunham Massey 2026
Christmas at Dunham Massey returns for 2026 with its spectacular after-dark light trail through the historic National Trust estate. We visited last Christmas and absolutely loved it – it was genuinely stunning, easy to walk around and one of those festive events that works just as well for teens and adults as it does for younger children.

Entry is by staggered timed slots, with the exact start times varying depending on the date you choose. Quiet Access Sessions are available at 4pm and 4.15pm on selected dates.

Parking is available on-site but must be pre-booked when you buy your trail tickets. National Trust members receive free parking when it is booked in advance and a valid membership card is shown. Non-members pay an additional parking charge.
🚶 Trail length:
The illuminated trail is approximately one mile long. Allow around 1–2 hours to complete it. We spent roughly 90 minutes walking the trail during our visit, including plenty of photo stops.
✨ What to expect:
Christmas at Dunham Massey celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026, with new illuminated installations, projections across the historic house, immersive light and sound displays and returning favourites throughout the gardens.
Father Christmas also makes an appearance along the route, while seasonal food and drink stalls and a festive fairground add to the atmosphere. Food, drinks and fairground rides cost extra.
💡 Manchester Mummy tip:
Wrap up properly! The whole trail is outdoors and we were very glad of coats, hats and decent footwear. The paths were easy to navigate when we visited and the whole experience felt really well organised. It was honestly one of our favourite Christmas outings last year.

Northern Lights at Heaton Park 2026
Northern Lights returns to Heaton Park for 2026 with a brand-new theme, A Christmas Time Machine, and new immersive light installations.

Children’s tickets start from £12, with adult and family prices varying between Peak and Off-Peak dates. A £1.75 transaction fee applies per booking.
Bookings include a FREE Flexible Booking Guarantee, allowing you to change your date or time up to 24 hours before your visit.

Event parking costs £7.50 per car and must be booked in advance. Use M25 0DL for the Northern Lights event car park, accessed from Sheepfoot Lane.
🚋 Getting there by tram:
Heaton Park Metrolink stop is around a 10-minute walk from the trail. Enter the park through Gate 13 opposite the tram stop on Bury Old Road.
🚶 Trail length:
The route is just over one mile long and follows paths through Heaton Park, including woodland areas and sections around the boating lake.

The 2026 trail features new installations created around the A Christmas Time Machine theme, plus a festive Christmas Village with food, drink and fairground rides.

RHS Glow at RHS Garden Bridgewater 2026
RHS Glow returns to Bridgewater for 2026 with a completely new route, featuring interactive and immersive light installations throughout the gardens.

Enchanted Winter Walk at Quarry Bank 2026
Quarry Bank’s Enchanted Winter Walk returns for Christmas 2026, with festive lights and illuminated walkways through the Upper Garden.

Follow illuminated pathways through the Upper Garden, look out for Mrs Claus preparing the sleigh and enjoy a shorter Christmas light experience than some of the larger trails around Manchester and Cheshire.

Dogs on leads are welcome. The route is also accessible across flat ground, with a small diversion available to avoid steps in the walled garden.

Magical Woodland at Blakemere Village 2026
Magical Woodland celebrates its 10th Christmas in 2026, with a 15-acre light and sound trail, live festive characters and real reindeer.

BeWILDerwood Cheshire transforms into a snowy Christmas woodland for 2026, with a sparkly light trail, festive characters and a family mini pantomime.

Lanterns & Light returns to Chester Zoo for 2026 with a new route, immersive light installations and even more interactive animal puppets.

Enchanted at Knowsley Safari 2026
Enchanted returns to Knowsley Safari for 2026 with an extended illuminated trail through the Foot Safari, featuring glowing animal installations and new festive displays.

Santa’s Secret Forest near Liverpool combines a woodland light trail with real reindeer, a festive market and an optional immersive Santa experience.

Lightwaves is expected to return to Salford Quays and MediaCity for 2026, with dates currently looking likely to run from 23rd November – 13th December. Full 2026 dates are still to be officially confirmed.
The free outdoor event transforms the waterside with large-scale light installations and is suitable for families and visitors of all ages.

Tatton Park has confirmed its 2026 Christmas Mansion theme as Around the World in 80 Days. Travel through the magically decorated State Rooms as the Mansion transforms for Christmas, with full visitor ticket details still to come.
