Ad/ If you’re in town and fancy rounding off your day with something sweet (and a bit extra), the newly opened Haute Dolci Deansgate Manchester is one of those places that immediately feels like a treat.
Whilst a national chain, this branch is located at 1 Deansgate, Manchester M3 1AZ, near Manchester Cathedral and Victoria train station, right at the start of Deansgate. There are other Haute Dolci restaurants in Manchester over on Wilmslow Road and at the Trafford Centre, but this post is all about the city centre spot.
I recently visited with Helen from North West Family Adventures on a Friday evening to see what it’s actually like inside, how the desserts stack up and whether it works as that “last stop before home” kind of place after a visit to the Manchester Christmas markets.

Our First Impressions
From the outside, Haute Dolci Deansgate is hard to miss. Big windows, bright lighting and lots of very pretty desserts in cabinets by the windows and being carried past the glass. It looks like somewhere you’d go for a bit of a moment rather than a quick coffee.
Inside, Helen and I were immediately reminded of a hotel-style lobby, it is bright, airy and very welcoming. The venue was spotless and everything felt really well put together. Staff were constantly on the move, clearing tables, seating people and bringing out desserts and it all felt smooth and well-organised rather than chaotic, even though it was busy.
There are plenty of places to sit on the ground floor and also the first floor, which gives a superb view of everything happening below and the world outside. The chairs are super comfy and I would definitely recommend sitting upstairs if you can.
Our server Rohan was lovely. Friendly, happy to make recommendations and generally just very easy to chat to, which is exactly what you want when the menu is filled to the brim with lots of tempting dishes. Take a look at the online menu before your visit.

What We Ordered at Haute Dolci Deansgate
Haute Dolci Deansgate has a big savoury and brunch menu, but we were there for pudding, so we stayed firmly in dessert mode.
We both started with a pot of English Breakfast tea each, classic, simple and very needed after a long day wandering around Manchester and then chose a tasty dessert each.

Strawberry et Chocolat Croffle – £12.50
I went for the Strawberry et Chocolat Croffle. A croissant–waffle hybrid which was topped with fresh strawberries, Belgian milk chocolate and chocolate curls and finished with vanilla gelato.
It was the first croffle I have ever tried and honestly, I was seriously impressed! As a dessert, it was right up my street!
The base was very crispy and buttery, so it definitely felt like a proper “naughty” treat, but the vanilla gelato and fresh strawberries stopped it feeling too heavy or sickly. It was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked, sweet, a bit rich, but still refreshing.

Apple Crumble – £11.90
Helen chose a more traditional Apple Crumble dessert. Featuring a warm apple filling, crispy, buttery crumble topping and was served with custard or vanilla gelato
It’s one of the more classic options on the menu and looked exactly how you want an apple crumble to arrive. If you’re not in the mood for chocolate overload, this is a nice, comforting option.
Price-wise, both are definitely “treat” desserts. This isn’t a quick £5 pudding after the supermarket, but the portions are decent and very much in the special occasion bracket.
The Matilda Cake – Dessert With a Bit of Drama
One of the fun things about venue is watching (and smelling) what everyone else orders.
A table near us had the ‘Matilda Cake by HD’ and it’s one of those desserts that makes the whole area stop and stare. The cake arrives inside a silver casing. The server then lifts it off at the table and warm Belgian chocolate ganache pours down over the sponge, like a volcano errupting. It is actually amazing to see and there were a lot of gasps from other tables!
If you have kids who love Matilda, teens who like a dramatic dessert for TikTok or you just secretly enjoy a bit of theatre with your chocolate, this one is ideal!
We also saw plenty of:
- Pull-me cakes
- Croffles and waffles
- Cookie dough and tres leches cakes
…leaving the kitchen while we were there. If you’re indecisive, a quick look at the online menu before you go will definitely help.
Haute Dolci Deansgate Brunch Menu – Not Just Desserts
Most people head to Haute Dolci for the desserts, but the all-day brunch menu is much bigger than you’d expect!
On the savoury side you’ll find options like:
- Eggs with croissants, cheese and peppers
- Avocado on sourdough with poached eggs and hollandaise
- Full English-style plates
- Shakshuka, savoury waffles and pasta dishes
We didn’t try the brunch mains on this visit (eyes firmly on dessert) but dishes going past looked really good and smelled amazing! Colourful, generous and definitely in the “weekend treat brunch” category rather than basic café fare.
If you’re visting with a group where one person wants pancakes, another wants eggs and someone else just wants cake, Haute Dolci Deansgate is an easy option.

Drinks Options
Drinks-wise, this restaurant seriously doesn’t just stop at coffee and tea.
Alongside the usual hot drinks you’ll see Signature hot chocolates made with Belgian chocolate, fancy milkshakes in flavours like Ferrero, Oreo and pistachio, alongside fruity mocktails and lemonades with mango, passion fruit, berries and mint.
We kept it simple with pots of English Breakfast tea, much needed on a stormy day in Manchester. Though if you’re visiting with kids or teens, celebrating a birthday or results day, the shakes and mocktails look like a lot of fun.
Who Is Haute Dolci Deansgate Best For?
From our visit, I’d say the dessert venue works best for:
- Friends meeting up in the evening for dessert and a proper catch-up.
- Families with older kids or teens who will love the big, theatrical puddings.
- Birthdays, exam results, end-of-term treats and “we’ve had a long day in Manchester and deserve something nice” moments.
It’s bright, busy and full of movement, so if you like a bit of buzz, it’s ideal. If you prefer calmer spaces, an earlier daytime visit would probably suit you more than a peak evening slot. Service throughout is impeccable though and we noticed no table ever waited too long for service or food.

FAQs About Haute Dolci
What does “Haute Dolci” mean?
“Haute” is French for “high” or “high-end”, and “dolci” is Italian for “sweets” or “desserts”. Put together, Haute Dolci basically means “high-end desserts”, which does fit the look and feel of Haute Dolci Deansgate.
Does Haute Dolci have a dress code?
There isn’t a strict dress code. When we visited, some people were in jeans and trainers after shopping, others were more dressed up for a night out. I’d call it smart casual, wear what you’re comfortable in and you’ll be fine.
Is Haute Dolci family-friendly?
Yes, especially for older children and teens who will absolutely love things like the Matilda cake and all the chocolate drama. If your kids don’t love noise or very busy spaces, earlier in the day will be calmer than the evening.
Final Thoughts – Is Haute Dolci Deansgate Worth a Visit?
For me, Haute Dolci Deansgate sits firmly in the “special treat” category.
If you’re after:
- A central spot that feels seriously glam
- Big, pretty, Instagram-friendly desserts
- Somewhere lively to end a day in Manchester
…then it’s definitely one to pop on your list.
The prices are on the higher side and it’s not a quiet, chilled-out café, but if you’re celebrating something, meeting friends or you’ve promised the kids a “proper” dessert, Haute Dolci does tick those boxes nicely.
